Welcome to our Engineering Design Laboratory blog! We are a group of recent transfer students collaborating on the project of finding an innovative solution to restring hooded sweatshirts (or hoodies) when the string comes out.

Please check out our upper tabs for weekly updates!

Figure 1. Initial sketches and brainstorming of the product design.

Below will display the Prototype images list: How we has involved in the project so far. Four prototypes have been constructed since the first meeting... (Most are failed, unfortunately). The detailed drawbacks are reported on Weekly Progress tabs. Only clamp mechanisms of Prototype 1 and 3 will be displayed due to failing the dimension test (so that we decided not to waste our hinge pin and extension rod, honestly). Prototype 2, which passed the dimension test, will have hinge pin and extension rod attached. Prototype 4, the latest and successful one, will be presented during the Final Presentation.
Note: dimension test - Test to answer two questions:
  1. Can the device enter the hoodie ring?
  2. Can the drawstring fit the device's clamp mechanism
